Example: Drink Recipe Cost Calculation

For this example we want to make a simple drink recipe for a Classic Margarita. Our recipe creates 4 drinks and contains 4 ingredients.

Ingredients:

  • 180 milliliter Tequila Blanco
  • 120 milliliter Triple Sec
  • 90 milliliter Lime Juice
  • 60 milliliter Simple Syrup

In the "New Ingredient" section, enter only the ingredient name (for example, "Tequila Blanco"), not the amount and unit. To save time, put each ingredient name on its own line and create them in one step.

Once you entered all the ingredients, go to RECIPES and create a new recipe called "Classic Margarita".

In the recipe, click the "Add Ingredient" button and add them all to the recipe.

Purchases:

You already know the purchase cost for each ingredient and now need to add this information to the ingredients.

  • Tequila Blanco - $27.99 / 750 milliliter
  • Triple Sec - $13.49 / 750 milliliter
  • Lime Juice - $7.25 / 946 milliliter
  • Simple Syrup - $3.99 / 1000 milliliter

Our recipe cost calculator will now be able to calculate each ingredients cost on the recipe. When you specify the resulting amount of the recipe (4 servings) the calculator automatically divides the cost to each drink.
